Local Activities & Groups
There are a variety of social and community activities/groups within the parish. These include:
| Buckden Art Group The Art Group was originally formed by a few local people who enjoyed painting, meeting in the Schoolroom at Buckden. They were asked to exhibit their paintings at an event at Hubberholme Church and have gone on from strength to strength. Members now total about 25 folk from nearby in the dale and some who travel quite a distance. They meet in the Village Institute on Monday evenings from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m., between Harvest and lambing time (September to March). New members are always welcome and demonstrations are arranged each year to encourage new members and the more experienced alike. Each year an exhibition is held at the end of August Click here for pictures Contacts: Chairman: Angela Falshaw (01756) 760259 Exhibition: An annual exhibition is held in the Village Institute at the end of August. | Community First Responders The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is committed to
the highest standards
of pre-hospital care. However, given the location of Buckden, it is not always possible to get an emergency vehicle to a patient with a potentially Community First Schemes have therefore been established under which, local volunteers are trained and equipped by the ambulance service, to provide emergency care before an emergency vehicle arrives. This care includes oxygen, and defibrillation where necessary. There is a duty rota whereby there is a responder on call at all times who has access to the emergency equipment held in a central location in the village. The responders are called out to an incident by the Ambulance Service once the emergency vehicle has been dispatched following a 999 call. For more information about the scheme, please contact Robin Davidson on (01756) 761320 Volunteers are always welcome - full training is provided by Yorkshire Ambulance Service

It is a community choir and no audition is necessary. The only qualification is enthusiasm and a commitment to attend regularly.
