Nature watch in Buckden

The pictures below have been submitted by local photographer Gordon Nowell who has been trying out his new lens on the local bird population. These pictures are just a few samples form the many pictures he has taken, and as always, are well worth looking at.

Siskin are doing well. In Victorian times they were often captured to be kept in cages. The photo is of a male one taken in Gordon's garden. They weigh little more than  ½ oz.

 

After a bad start due to the river flooding these oystercatcher between Buckden and Hubberholme have successfully reared two young. This is the size they were on the 14th July.
