A certain bunch of Buckdenites otherwise known as 'Now then' Tours ably lead by tour leader Frank (Steptoe) Hardy recently had a weekend away 'doing' Blackpool and the illuminations. 

During the stay we had a slight detour to Wigan Pier (Closed). Well, what else can you do in Wigan?.... Visit 'Our Ted' languishing coincidentally close by in Wrightington Hospital. 

The bemused/suspicious porter who guided us to the correct ward insisted we wouldn't all (9) get in. He didn't reckon with the two of the tour who sweet talked the ward staff. So in trooped the 9 of us all dressed in team t-shirts. The patients were as suspicious as the porter and thought we were security either that or we had all been 'let out' for the day. Gifts handed over, pleasantries passed we made our exit leaving Ted to convince the ward that there were normal people living in Buckden......allegedly!
