Service details and prices

This new service delivers fast broadband directly by wireless link at download speeds of either 10, 20 or 30 Mb/s depending on the level of service chosen by the individual household.  An additional benefit is that upload speeds of up to 10Mbps are available rather than the more usual very slow upload speed of typically 0.25Mb/s.  This transforms the speed at which pictures, video and other large files can be sent by you, it also allows you to send pictures and files that previously were too large to send. There is no specific limit on data download and upload volumes, although they are subject to a "fair usage" policy.

The service is provided by I Love Broadband who are wireless technology specialists, using a wireless link from the NYNet fibre ring at Kettlewell. The wireless signal is transmitted from Kettlewell primary school to masts at different locations throughout the dale.

Confirmation has now been received from the National Park that for properties which are not listed, no planning consent is required for installation of the antenna. For listed buildings a Listed Building consent may be required. Click here for details

The ADSL modem/router you are currently using to receive broadband through your telephone line cannot be used with this new system as it will be delivered wirelessly.

A small plate antenna will be fitted to the outside of your house and a cable will be attached from this antenna to the location where your computer is placed.

There is a subsidised one-off connection charge of £90 for this which includes the labour to install it.

If you want more than one computer to share the broadband service, either wired for up to 3 additional desktop computers and/or by a wireless network for laptop use you will also need a wireless router. You can purchase a 300Mb/s router from I Love Broadband at a price of £50. This will then be installed, set-up and supported by I Love Broadband.

If you already have a wireless router and are competent working with wireless networks it may be possible to re-use your existing wireless router, but this will not be set up and supported by I Love Broadband.  Therefore, unless your router is of the appropriate type and you feel confident to configure the router yourself, it is strongly recommended that you purchase a new one from I Love Broadband.
